Description Extended Information   A late work of Hellenistic sculpture (dated to the first century c.e.), the Laocoon group was the product of a still active school at Rhodes. It shows the Trojan priest, Laocoon, and his sons being strangled by sea serpents, some say because of his defiance of Apollo, others, because he offended Poseidon (who sided with the Greeks) by warning his Trojan compatriots about the Trojan horse. A beautiful sculpture presented here as a fine quality poster.
