Happy New Year! 1942. Artist Unknown. This Russian World War Two propaganda poster contains the juxtaposition of the Red Army soldier his head surrounded by stars, and the dreadful German troops trying to celebrate the coming New Year 1943. With the sarcastic tag line Happy New Year! (presumably right before shots are fired) Soviet poster technique tended to be very direct in its appeal and unflattering to the enemy. Soviet poster painting had a long and distinguished school. USSR WWII.
